Spring Open House

This past Sunday we had our first NorCal open house! It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon where a group of around 15 people gathered together over a BBQ lunch to hear an update on where we are in the buildout of NorCal and to learn more about the vision going forward.

After lunch, and with updated maps in hand, the NorCal crew, led by our own council executive Chuck Brasfeild, took the group of visitors on a personalized tour of NorCal with in-depth presentations on where we are, what’s next and what the future holds. We visited areas where campsites 3 and 4 will be built, the welcome center, the shop and storage buildings, the site for the training center and of course Lake NorCal.

People came away from the afternoon with a new appreciation of the scope of this project and just what an awesome adventure area and camp it will be for our scouts and the community once completed.

We’ll be having additional open houses in the future. We’re purposefully keeping the groups fairly small so that everyone has the opportunity to spend quality Q&A time with the crew, including Chuck Brasfeild, Laura Lovell (Director of Camp and Properties), Mark Shafer (Vice President of Properties) and others involved in the creation of this beautiful camp.

Lastly, now that the rains are gone, it’s full steam ahead on the welcome center. Check back here throughout the summer to watch the progress.
