The closing weeks of 2018 sure turned out to be busy here at NorCal, and 2019 is starting with a bang! Continue reading “New Year Progress!”
A Big Beautiful Mess
During a kitchen remodel when things got a bit messy, my contractor once told me “in order to make an omelet you have to crack some eggs.” We’re definitely “cracking some eggs” at NorCal, but just as those cracked eggs eventually become a beautiful and delicious omelet, NorCal will become a gorgeous state-of-the-art camp and adventure area! Lots of Progress–Mostly Behind the Scenes
It was a busy summer for NorCal, but a lot of it was behind the scenes work by many hard-working volunteers and staff. From the onset, our plan was to build a first-class camp and adventure area that could be enjoyed by not only our council but the surrounding communities. And what comes with that is a little bureaucracy with the county and a lot of architectural and engineering planning by us. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to the past couple of months:

The NorCal Vision
If you’ve been following the NorCal Blog the past 18 months or so you know that most of our posts have been focused on keeping everyone updated on construction-related projects. In a previous post, Mark Shafer outlined all the key project construction plans for 2018. With that, we thought now would be a great time to update everyone on some of the more strategic aspects of the NorCal Adventure Area. To that end, I’m thrilled to announce that our newest guest blogger is Mike Boggs, the current GEC President. Continue reading “The NorCal Vision”
And BOOM, GEC has a new…
…storage building at NorCal!
I’ll let the video do the talking for this post–let’s just say it didn’t take too long for this new building to go up! I hope everyone is having a great summer, lots more exciting stuff to come from NorCal this year, stay tuned.
June BOD Meeting at NorCal
It was a busy day at NorCal yesterday–not only was there a large contingent of boys using the camp for the week, the June Board of Directors meeting was also held there in the early evening. Continue reading “June BOD Meeting at NorCal”

Moving Dirt, Lots of Dirt, for the New Storage Building Site
In our last post we mentioned that we have lost our storage facility in Sacramento and have decided it would be best to have our own building on our own property–NorCal fits the bill perfectly! The site for new storage building will be adjacent to the existing maintenance and shop building. Continue reading “Moving Dirt, Lots of Dirt, for the New Storage Building Site”
Things are Hopping at NorCal!
As we mentioned in our last post, this Spring is going to be a busy one at NorCal, and the action has begun! There are a few projects in the works, including:
Road Building
If you’re a regular reader of this blog you know that our plans call for building a road that circles the entire camp. With the recent macerator work and some further timber work currently being done, we’re making some progress on this project. The area around the camp that the road will be on has now been marked by our civil engineer and he is working to place it on the site plan for future planning of the camp water and electrical infrastructure.
